A retro graphic design reminiscent of an 80s bowling alley carpet, but the geometric shapes are data visualization icons

The idea for this pattern came to me and I could not stop thinking about it until I brought it into existence. I thought of a pattern of a retro bowling ball alley carpet, but with all the little geometric figures as icons of data visualizations. Initially, I was trying to generate it with AI (artificial inteligence), but the output was not good enough, so I ended up creating it with AI (Adobe Illustrator).

With this pattern as an inspiration and a starting point, I created a fun and retro- inspired t-shirt design for the IEEE VIS conference student volunteers. This was chosen as the winning design. These t-shirt designs were also created in Adobe Illustrator.
